CeAND has multiple, complementary missions. First and foremost, the Center of Excellence is dedicated to research aimed at better understanding NDDs and developing innovative therapeutic approaches.
Additionally, it plays a key role in training healthcare professionals, ensuring the dissemination of best practices in accordance with HAS recommendations, notably through l’Ecole des TND , i.e. CeAND’s innovative educational training program.
Finally, CeAND is actively committed to raising awareness and reducing stigma, thereby supporting inclusion and the well-being of individuals affected by neurodevelopmental disorders.
By combining these missions, CeAND aims to create a supportive and inclusive environment while advancing knowledge and care in the field of NDDs.
Continuity between diagnosis and care, clinical and basic research, as well as academic and practical training, is fostered by the synergy between :
from Montpellier University Hospital (including six reference or expertise centers on neurodevelopmental disorders)
Labeled units from eight research institutes of CNRS or INSERM : IRMB, INM, IGF, IGH, IGMM, CRBM, LIRMM, MMDN
CThese collaborations allow for the combination of clinical expertise, cutting-edge research, and ethical reflection to address the challenges of neurodevelopmental disorders in a holistic manner
This multidisciplinary approach enhances CeAND’s visibility and international competitiveness in research and innovation on neurodevelopmental disorders.
The center’s translational approach is supported by local excellence in biomedical sciences, access to leading experimental models, as well as backing from the FHU Neurosciences and the biomedical sciences cluster of
Montpellier University of Excellence. The involvement of the Center of Excellence for Neurodegenerative Diseases (CoeN) contributes to the synergy of research activities and the cross-cutting nature of the themes.
CeAND is led by Montpellier University Hospital in close collaboration with the University of Montpellier.
Professor Amaria BAGHDADLI holds scientific responsibility for the Center of Excellence, in addition to her roles as head of the Languedoc-Roussillon Autism Resource Center and a specialized care pathway for neurodevelopmental disorders within the University Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Montpellier University Hospital. She is also a researcher at CESP (INSERM). Aline TOURNIER serves as the executive director of CeAND, overseeing the operational activities of the center in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
This leadership is complemented by the collaboration of strategic, scientific, and ethics committees, ensuring an inclusive and coordinated approach in pursuing research, care, training, and awareness objectives related to neurodevelopmental disorders.
