University Diploma in Neurodevelopmental Disorders in Children and Adolescents: Support and Care Practices (hybrid)
Diploma Presentation
Intended for healthcare and social care professionals, this University Diploma (UD) provides concrete and innovative tools to address the challenges of Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD). Its aim : is to strengthen professionals’ skills to offer more personalized and effective care, thereby improving the quality of life of children, adolescents, and their families.
Part of a comprehensive approach, this University Diploma represents a key step toward more structured, coherent, and compassionate support, closely aligned with the specific needs of the young people concerned.
Target Audience
- Healthcare or social and medico-social professionals: physicians (particularly general practitioners, school doctors, preventive child health physicians, child psychiatrists, pediatric neurologists, psychiatrists, and pediatricians), nurses, pediatric nurses, psychologists, speech therapists, psychomotor therapists, occupational therapists, and specialized educators.
- Residents holding the French DES in Psychiatry and Pediatrics having completed six semesters of residency.”
Admission and Prerequisites
- Demonstrate prior training in NDD, for example by having completed the University Diploma in NDD: Detection, Diagnosis, and Referral (e-learning) or an equivalent program, OR possess sufficient expertise in NDD along with clinical or support practice experience in the field.
- Demonstrate one to two years of professional experience experience in order to participate in practice-sharing workshops.
- Minimum educational requirement: Bachelor’s degree (Bac +3)

- MODULE 1 — dentify, analyze, and interpret assessments to develop potential therapeutic approaches.
Learning Objective : Synthesize and justify intervention proposals and their prioritization based on assessments, tests, and clinical examinations.

- MODULE 2 — Support children or adolescents and their families in improving their quality of life with NDDs.
Learning Objectives : Define the framework for creating and facilitating a group or program. Identify needs and guide participants toward appropriate care.

- MODULE 3 — Adapt the educational approach to specific needs
Learning objectives : Identify functional difficulties, propose adaptations, and evaluate their effectiveness.

- MODULE 4 — Support children or adolescents with NDDs toward greater social autonomy.

Schedule and Organization
- This course takes place over one academic year : from October 2025 to June 2026, in a hybrid format (online + in-person).
- 2 in-person sessions in Montpellier : Thursday and Friday in January 2026, and Thursday and Friday in May 2026, totaling 28 hours of in-person instruction.
- Synchronous online learning : 2 guided sessions (TD) per module via videoconference, 2 hours each (approximately once a month), bringing together instructors and students – totaling 16 hours.
- Asynchronous online learning: Independent or group activities and self-directed work on course content – 4.5 hours per module.
- Estimated personal study : 2 hours per week.

Drawing on over ten years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with NDDs, his team has been providing NDD training at the Faculty of Medicine of Montpellier-Nîmes.
